Allright so some of you might know but last week I led 2 Dire Maul parties on conecutive nights and both nights we found

=============
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=18519
Pattern; Shifting cloak (elemental leatherworking)

it makes;
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=18511

Back (cloth)
48 armor
17 agility
8 stamina
increases chance to dodge with 1%
level 57

to make, it requires
4 skin of shadow (BoP in scholo)
12 essence of air (~18g a piece)
8 guardian stone (~12-15 gold a piece)
4 cured rugged hide (Probably in guild available)
8 runethread (40 silver a piece)
30 rugged leather (probably in guild available)

So the costs will be tops 350 + skins.

============

Now the first time we sold the pattern for 750 gold within a day (142.5 gold to all who were on the party, after the 5% auction house cut). We suspect Arwyl bought it and is trying to resell it.
But I haven't been able to sell the SECOND pattern yet.

Now we can probably not get 750g for it again, but I am wondering what options we should take because;

1. I am not going for Chromatic Legplates, but I still have 7 skins of shadow since if nobody needs them, I usually ask for them, exactly for this purpose; I could dump one of my professions for leatherworking and churn out a few cloaks, then turn back to my old profession.
The profession to be dumped would be alchemy, since the only valuable recipe that I can't get back easily through vendors is Greater Fire Absorption Potion. All others are vendor sold or trained (at least the ones I have). Training my alchemy back up would take only 2 or 3 days with help, and only cost around 50g in herbs.
The problem here is; is it worth it? Are people in the guild looking for this cloak and are they willing to pay the 400g mats of the AH to get the cloak?
Also; since the pattern is not really mine but is also equally from the 4 other persons on the group, I need to pay them to get this pattern. I'm not sure how much I should offer in that case.

2. Same as 1, but now someone else in the guild who is already an elemental leatherworker takes it.
The pro side is that I don't need to dump alchemy myself, the downside is that that person probably has no skins of shadow (and scholo is a pain, so 7 skins less then me is 7 times 2+ hours)

3. If you people know someone who is interested in this pattern, I could sell it too?

Any help in the dilemma, even other suggestions are welcome.

Sadie (Lydia's "alt") has 300 elemental leatherworking, but I don't know if she's interested. Carnadosa and I could easily farm the guardian stones. Essences of air are more annoying, but we do have alchemists.

I feel if you drop alchemy it shouldn't be just for this pattern. You never know. For one thing, speaking of Scholo, you can still earn a little gold each day (say, 6g) from transmuting water to air. It should also be for something you enjoy, like engineering was.

As for skins of shadow, I'll run Scholo if anyone else wants to. =)

Heh, Guardian stones are rather easy once you get the trick down.

banish is so nice :)

Well, I the RP reason for alchemy is that I could make the dangerous metals (arcanite) and essences myself, so that Dergo could rely on his own skill for the really tough engineering things.
It's a bit farfetched, but I was bored with mining (and a gunsmith shouldn't really mine, he's far too busy in his 'shop' making and selling guns) and this was the only thing I could come up with (and I needed the transmutes back then, and I still love the free gold each day).

Anyway, what I am proposing is just to do elemental leatherworking for a few cloaks and then switch back to alchemy. I do not intend to keep leatherworking.
The reason I'm willing to do this is because these cloaks if people are interested in the guild, would otherwise be a pain to make because of the skins of shadow.

The essences are not really a problem, if you want the cloak, just be ready to pay 18 gold or so for essences on the AH, there are always a few up for grabs.

The main things I'd like to know is;
Are there rogues in the guild interested in this cloak?
Should I try to buy the pattern from the others who were in the party to keep this recipe in guild?

Bah, you silly Warlocks and you're Banish...

I kill those Guardians straight up. Frost kiting FTW.

If you need stones, I have at least 15 in my bank, and can get more reallly easily

Most of what I want in Scholo is some rare enchant patterns that I still dont have, including 9 spirit, and lifesteal. I think 9 INT may drop in there too? I'll go along for a few rides if you need another priestess.

The issue here is not really scholomance, because I'm sure that although it's not a fun instance, we'll be able to farm it for skins IF we decide we want to get the pattern inguild.

The pattern sold today for 750 gold and I gave all the partymembers that were present their share.
So I no longer have this available. We should determine if we want this pattern and how much, in case this drops again. (as well as the other patterns for Chromatic cloak and Hide of the wild. Carnadosa already has the Belt of the Archmage pattern)
