Skirmishes in the Shifting Sands Part I
----------------------------------------
Pondering where her next journey would be, Xastra leaned against the balcony railing overlooking Ironforge. The bustle of the center market place occupied her eyes, while her mind wandered. Interrupting her musings, a soft tug on her soul had the familiar imprint of her friend Carnadosa. Ahh! Something to go do! Running into her apartment, Xastra grabbed her travel bags and girded on her armor. An adventure awaited!
Surrendering herself to the summons, Xastra was wrenched through arcane twisting passageways. Her mind reeling, she felt the hot blast of desert air and sand shifting under her feet. While trying to gather her wits, she heard the sharp slap of a hand striking her butt. "Damn you Carn, I am not your demon play toy!", she exclaimed while trying to focus her eyes well enough to find him. As the world righted itself, she looked around and saw many of her friends gathered around enjoying the spectacle. Laughing, she tilted her head back and let the golden sunshine play across her face. As the warmth permeated her skin, she felt the eternal chill she never could shake reclaim its hold on her soul.
With a sigh, she opened her eyes and said "Quite the war party. What sort of trouble are we up to today?" The smile slid from Alyna's face and she exchanged a glance with Elarion. Cathela met Xastra's eyes and silently nodded towards a still figure on the hilltop overlooking the sands of Silithus. Puzzled, Xastra saw the strain in the faces of her friends and how even at rest they remained battle ready.
Xastra slowly walked up hill and stood silently next to Snorand. Stretched out before them, the wind played over the dunes causing the sand to appear to shift like waves on the ocean. Xastra looked over at the uncharactiscly quiet elf and was shocked to see the face before her. Gone was the light smile and twinkling eyes. Instead a hard eyed stranger stood next to Xastra with an aura of contained will and power.
"The time has come. The world must gird itself for a war unimaginable to all but the blithering mad. The Qiraji can be contained no longer."
