Lets say hypothetically I want to get an Arcanite Reaper made...is there anyone in the guild who can do this?

I know Pagdwa could, but I don't know if he could be convinced to reactivate his account for a hypothetical situation. >_>

well I'd say there is a very good chance that i'll be coming back during xmas break (so two weeksish) I need a good ole time sink during the break, and if my 360 doesn't float to me on a magical cloud wow will probablly do it for me (unless vodak and i get into some other multiplayer game before then).

We can also get a darkstone claymore to drop from the second tier summonable bosses in Silithus. I believe it drops from the water elemental one.

The only option is for Pagdwa to make it. No other Reaper compares to Pagdwa Original.

I have one, and I love it. Especially since she forged when he was drunk.

Auring has been looking to have a reaper made for his brother for about three weeks now. He honestly CANNOT FIND AN AXESMITH who does not charge a ridiculous amout ("I'd like a 2 arcanite tip").

I basically need a solid-slow-heavy hitting-situational 2H weapon. I really don't want to grab one from MC/BWL over someone else who might really REALLY want it. Even taking a drop off something like a Silithus boss kinda makes me feel awkward.

If you are desperate enough and don't want to what for Pagdwa (though I'd reccomend waiting), ask Thorag of the High Guard. He offered to do mine way back when I was level 48 and collecting the pieces. He's a good guy so I doubt he'd charge a rediculous amount.

He understands it costs a rediculous amouth just to get the material for the damned thing. It's a giant pain in the ass. That's why I'm happy that Pagdwa made it for me... ^^

She asked for a tip, but I was flat out broke, so I only gave him 2 gold. :P

A tip is a tip my friend. I was happy with whatever I got for tips, I got the plans for free, and it cost me nothing to make them, so its all profit right, even 2g is great.

Honestly, the Silithus one is fairly easy to come by, but I see your point. I was suggesting it to avoid the material overhead of something that is, as you said, situational. Sadly, the axesmith in my guild retired permanently.

Thorag is a good guy (he is a friend of mine)... and no longer in High Guard.

but... yes... if he can make the AR... then go for it

I think Andarac (of Dark Legend) can make the AR... i bought him the damn pattern of the AH

so tell him I sent you and he should make it

Wow, Thorag quit High Guard... That's news to me. I guess that's what I get for leaving the game for 3 months.

Ya know, the more I think about it, the more I want a screenshot of Helvyriin with a Reaper. Just for the novelty of it. :D

LOL, get the Shardstrike. It isn't like you are taking it from someone that wants it. It isn't the best 2Hder, but it is practically free.

...Shardstrike? :( I'd be about as good off with my Ice Barbed Spear.

If anything, I would take the Obsidian Edged Blade from MC. But yeah, same problem of some Warrior probably really itchin for it.

Just out of curiosity (from someone who knows nothing about warrior skills)-- what's the big appeal of having an Arcanite Reaper over, say, the oft-detested Shadowstrike? As far as I can tell, they both have essentially identical dps, and so it would just come down to comparing the benefit of an extra 30 damage on MS versus the Shadowstrike lifesteal proc.

Why is the value of 30 points of extra damage on MS worth burning an extra 500 gold worth of materials? I'd actually think that the lifesteal would be better objectively, even before you factor in the ridiculous cost of a Reaper. But given my total ignorance of such things, I suppose there's something I've overlooked.

For starters...its Shardstrike.

The situations I would use them is where damage range is the most important factor. This basically boils down to the Instant Warrior abilities like Whirlwind and Overpower for PvE, and in a variety of PvP encounters where speedy DW weapons are not preferred. The OEB and AR also have static stat insteases of cheesey chance procs (which I have never been a fan of).

Well the Arcanite Reaper used to be the heaviest hitting weapon in the game for the purposes of instant attacks - since it used to be based on weapon speed. The AR is even slower than a Spinal Reaper or anything from BWL.

Thats not true anymore. But in addition to its very large damage range it also has +64 attack power. Since the extra damage for an instant attack is based off of attack power and this is what gets multiplied (base damage is not multiplied) the AR still remains a very heavy hitting weapon as far as instant attacks are concerned.

The other reason that it is so popular is due to the warrior axe specialization. Most MS warriors are Axe specced simply because its the most useful of all specs. The only issue with Axe spec is the huge lack of axes in the game. There are easily 2-3 times the amount of swords as there are axes and there are also a lot of two-hand maces. The Arcanite Reaper was the easiest heavy hitting axe to obtain and still is. The others are all very low percent drops out of high-end instances.

Get a deathbringer ya nub. Yea swords are silly. ;)

11-30-2005, 08:49 AM
Never heard of the Deathbring... Let me Thottbot that real quick.

Okay... I checked the stats on both, but I'd probably end up going with the Quel'Serrar... That proc it has is just too sweet. And plus, I never get into the Onyxia raids. XD

And if I did, I doubt it would drop, and if it did, I doubt I would get it. :P

But you have to go on an onyxia raid to get a Quel >_>

but it only takes one raid.

AR? EW! EW!
/e hoses down Helv to get rid of the AR stink.
If you're going to use it then put in a tell for an OEB, heck I did last night. I don't think many people would be using it in a raid anyways, more of a PvP/soloing weapon for most people.

I am reactivating my account tonight, so I can make the reaper for Auring and Vylin.

Hmmm...so that's 30 days to make a decision eh?

A couple of people have spoken to me and I think an OEB might be the way to go. :)

Axe Spec, and the AR it spawns, is for nubs.

I am axe specced - but I don't use an AR and never have.

As for the sword spec comment. I was sword specced till around lvl 50 or so. I changed shortly after the patch came out that added procs like sword spec and the Thrash blade to the combat log. I had both sword and axe spec at that time - and I tested them both by duelling a thrash blade in my main hand and an axe in my off-hand.

My off-hand critted more times per battle than the thrash and sword spec procced together. So I respecced and got rid of the sword spec. Sword spec has the chance for higher damage than axe specs since you can crit with both attacks. But Axe spec is much more consistent damage. I go for the consistent over the crazy-streaky damage.

The real main advantage of sword spec is that there are more weapon choices for you by far.
